Thanks for visiting Le Petit Oiseau, a birdie bridal boutique. The purpose of this blog is to showcase my Bride and Groom Love Bird Cake Toppers, and to allow visitors to take a peek inside my work studio. I hope you enjoy your visit.

LE PETIT OISEAU ORIGIN

The studio name, Le Petit Oiseau, translated from French means The Little Bird. Many years ago I ventured into an art form call reborning. The art of reborning transforms vinyl dolls into lifelike, realistic baby dolls. My workshop (or "nursery" as I called it) where I crafted these heirloom treasures was appropriately named Le Petite Oiseau Nursery. The analogy was that I likened newborn babies as helpless little birds, crooning their necks for their mama’s nurturing. I still create my dolls, but more recently I have delved into a new genre, of crafting fabric birds and other wedding accessories.

In the spring of 2008 my daughter, Jana got engaged. Hence the beginning of many, many months of styling her perfect (and truly unique) wedding. She saw some cute little fabric bird cake toppers by Ann Woods and fell in love with them. Being the crafty, DIY kind of family that we are, we figured we could make these ourselves.

The first few prototypes proved this was really something I could make for her. They were far from perfect, but after a few more attempts I was able to fine tune the artistry to a darling and delightful pair of birds. My daughter suggested I try selling them on Etsy… and within a couple weeks I had my first order. My Bride and Groom Bird Cake Toppers are selling very steadily on Etsy and I now custom make them to each bride’s theme, color, and style choices.

I absolutely love the wedding industry. It is the most joyous and celebratory event that a family can share. And the best part is that I get to have a little tiny part in each client’s dream wedding.

And the bonus… whether I’m making birds or babies, the name Le Petit Oiseau still works!

~ Recent Weddings ~

This clever bride and groom took pictures of their birds all over Chicago
and used them for their table numbers and programs!

Made from the sleeve of her Grandmother's wedding gown,
this bride had me use the antique fabrics and trims to dress the bride bird.
Even the button loops were used on the veil.

BRIDE'S COMMENT:

They are beautiful! I showed them to my grandmother and she started to cry because she was so happy!
